What Do the Options Do?
- Ignore case: Treats uppercase and lowercase letters as the same, so Apple, apple, and APPLE count as one line. The copy you keep is shown exactly as you typed it.
- Trim spaces: Removes spaces and tabs from the start and end of each line before comparing, and from the result.
- Remove empty lines: Deletes blank lines completely. Without it, repeated blank lines are treated like any other repeated line, so one blank line stays.
- Keep first or last copy: Decides which copy of a repeated line stays, and therefore where it appears in the list.
- Sort result: Orders the cleaned list alphabetically or by length instead of keeping the original order.

By default it keeps the first copy. Choose Last copy under Keep if you want the final occurrence of each repeated line to stay instead. This also changes where the line appears in the result.
Is the comparison case sensitive?
Yes, by default. Apple and apple are different lines. Turn on Ignore case to treat them as the same line. The copy that is kept still appears exactly as you typed it.
How do I find duplicate lines instead of removing them?
Choose Only duplicates. The result then shows each line that appears more than once, one time each. Open Most repeated lines in the summary to see how many times each of them appears.
How do I get only the lines that appear once?
Choose Only unique. This keeps only the lines that appear exactly one time and removes every line that is repeated, including its first copy.
What does Trim spaces do?
It removes spaces and tabs at the start and end of each line before the lines are compared, so a line with an extra trailing space counts as the same as one without. The spaces are removed from the result too.
What happens to empty lines?
Without Remove empty lines, blank lines are treated like any other line, so several blank lines collapse into one. Turn on Remove empty lines to delete them all.
Can I sort the lines at the same time?
Yes. Use Sort result to order the cleaned list from A to Z, from Z to A, from the shortest to the longest line, or from the longest to the shortest. Numbers inside lines are sorted in natural order, so 2 comes before 10.
How do I remove duplicates from a comma-separated list?
This tool works with whole lines. Replace the commas with line breaks so that each item is on its own line, remove the duplicates, and then join the lines back together with commas if you need to.
Is there a size limit?
You can work with up to 2,000,000 characters at a time, and uploaded text files can be up to 2 MB. Very large texts may take a moment to process in your browser.
